KTG Law Firm (for information on our domestic and overseas offices currently in operation, please refer here) complies with the Personal Information Protection Law and other applicable laws and regulations with respect to personal information obtained and held by the KTG Law Firm Group, and handles such personal information appropriately in accordance with the policies set forth below.
Purpose of Use of Personal Information
The KTG Law Firm Group may obtain personal information such as names, addresses, telephone numbers, and email addresses directly through this website, as well as in various other circumstances. In such cases, personal information will be used only to the extent necessary for the purposes set forth below:
- Performance of legal services undertaken by the KTG Law Firm Group and communications related thereto
- Provision of information regarding the firm and legal updates from the KTG Law Firm Group (or invitations to seminars, symposiums, and similar events)
- Recruitment activities for attorneys, patent attorneys, staff, and trainees of the KTG Law Firm Group, as well as personnel management and training after hiring
- Responding to inquiries of all kinds
The KTG Law Firm will use personal information solely for the above purposes and will not use such information for any other purpose without the individual’s consent, except as required by law or where a separate purpose of use has been notified or publicly announced.
Joint Use of Personal Information
Within the KTG Law Firm, personal information—including names, addresses, telephone numbers, and other contact details, as well as all other personal data held by each entity—may be jointly used to the extent necessary for achieving the purposes set forth in items (1) through (4) above and for the proper and smooth execution of the Group’s business operations.
In such cases, the entity responsible for the management of personal data within the KTG Law Firm Group shall be KTG Law Firm (General Practice).
In addition, with respect to personal information obtained in connection with seminars, symposiums, or similar events jointly hosted with other individuals or organizations, such personal information may be jointly used with the co-hosts to the extent necessary for such joint hosting. In such cases, the party responsible for managing the personal information shall be KTG Law Firm.
Management of Personal Information
The KTG Law Firm Group will manage personal information in accordance with its internal regulations on personal information protection, taking necessary and appropriate measures to prevent unauthorized access, loss, destruction, alteration, or leakage, and within the scope necessary to achieve the stated purposes of use.
The Group will provide appropriate supervision to its employees regarding the handling of personal information, and when the handling of personal information is outsourced, it will supervise the contractors to ensure that such information is properly managed.
Unless otherwise required by law, the KTG Law Firm will not provide personal information to third parties without the individual’s consent.

Verification of Client Identity
For the prevention of money laundering and other purposes, the KTG Law Firm Group may, when accepting new legal engagements, verify client identity in accordance with the rules and regulations of the Japan Federation of Bar Associations regarding verification and recordkeeping of client identity information (effective March 1, 2013). We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.
Examples of verification materials:
- Individuals: Seal registration certificate, driver’s license, passport, health insurance card, pension handbook, alien registration card, etc., to verify name, address, and date of birth
- Corporations: Certificate of registered matters or similar documents to verify the company name and the location of its head office or principal place of business
