Sowing Dreams, Witnessing Growth — Hainan Students’Took the First Bite on Working in a Law Firm Setting.
On January 20, 2025, Hainan Kangtinggong Law Firm welcomed three students from Grade 10, Class 1 of Meilun Campus, Hainan High School — Liang Chen, Fu Jinqi, and Cao Yating — for a three-day lawyer assistant workplace experience. This program offered not only practical knowledge and skills but also a meaningful encounter with their aspirations.
Director Wang Shengzhe warmly welcomed the students to the “Workplace Experience” program, emphasizing its goal to provide an initial understanding of legal practice, clarify career paths, spark interest in legal studies, and offer an immersive insight into the daily life of a law firm and the work of lawyers.
The firm designed a series of practical tasks tailored to the students, including legal document organization and case material research, enabling them to gain a comprehensive understanding of a lawyer assistant’s responsibilities. Partner Qiu Qing introduced the firm’s overall profile, organizational structure, staffing, and lawyers’ specific duties, engaging actively with the students and patiently answering their questions. Administrative Supervisor Tan Jimi conducted training on office software, demonstrating efficient usage techniques for daily work. Intern Lawyer Chen Xuqí provided a detailed breakdown of project filing procedures, explaining each step and required material. Lawyer Assistant Lü Hanquan generously shared his daily work experience and key considerations, offering the students practical insights.
The students benefited greatly: professionally, they learned proper legal document formatting and case-handling procedures; skill-wise, they enhanced their communication, collaboration, and information retrieval and analysis abilities, gaining a deeper understanding of the legal profession.
For the firm, the program was a valuable opportunity for exchange. The students’ energy and fresh perspectives brought new inspiration, while the guidance provided by the lawyers strengthened teaching and communication skills. Looking ahead, Kangtinggong Law Firm will continue hosting such initiatives, offering young people interested in law a platform to grow and contribute to the development of the legal profession.
